This long established Society currently has
around sixty five members with about forty present for most meetings.
Visitors commonly remark that we are very friendly and lively group! We
meet on Monday evenings (except Bank Holidays) from September to the end
of June. We hold an annual exhibition
at the same venue in October. |

Our venue is the Bramhall Village Club, on
Lumb Lane in the centre of Bramhall. The Bramhall Village Club is a
charitable organisation of which the Photographic Society is one
section. A permanent darkroom is available for members, equipped for
both monochrome and colour printing, though it must be said that the
digital revolution has greatly reduced its use. For members wishing to
try this still fascinating art, help and mentoring from established
members is readily available.
The digital revolution is also
reflected in the popularity of our Digital Imaging Group, which meet
fortnightly in addition to our normal programme. We are very fortunate
to have Harry Bosworth to run this for us. (Harry, together with fellow
member George Bockenheim, also oganises the RPS North West Digital
Imaging Group, which meets at Grappenhall, south of Warrington.) |
To support our digital workers, the Society
was fortunate in gaining an award from the Lottery Commission in 2004 to
fund the purchase of a digital projector, laptop computer and
comprehensive software. A growing number of members are now exploring
audio visual work in the digital domain.
A monthly newsletter is produced by David
Hempstock giving notice of coming events, member profiles and other
items likely to be of interest. The Society is affiliated to the
Lancashire &
Cheshire Photographic Union.
Please explore this developing site and, if
you think you may be interested, come along one Monday evening and
introduce yourself. |
